Language processing in Alzheimer's disease

Scientific framework and objectives

The study of language deficits in Alzheimer’s disease has two main goals. The first one is to assess the validity, for language, of the retrogenesis hypothesis according to which neurodegenerative mechanisms reverse the order of acquisition in the normal child (C. Frouin’s PhD). Ultimately, this study should allow us to provide recommendations for communication enhancement based on the patient’s residual abilities. The second goal is to analyse language regression in bilingual migrant Alzheimer’s patients by addressing the issue of the relevance of assessment and rehabilitation tools, and their possible adaptation to the linguistic and cultural specificities of this population.
